Waliku's first use-case and proof-of-concept and pilot site is West Sumba District, Indonesia.
In the 2020-21 Academic Year, Waliku is preparing to scale in Save the Children Indonesia projects:
Save the Children is also planning for Waliku to be introduced in 2-3 other countries and contexts, as part of COVID-19 recovery efforts in existing projects; or as new projects that have come about due to the collaboration with Waliku.
- Waliku's proof-of-concept study across five schools took place in the 2018-19 Academic Year.
- The pilot study took place across 21 schools in the 2019-20 Academic Year.
In the 2020-21 Academic Year, Waliku is preparing to scale in Save the Children Indonesia projects:
- In West Sumba District, 34 (37%) schools in the district use Waliku. It is planned that by next Academic Year, all 91 schools in the district will be using Waliku for their attendance tracking and absence follow-up needs
- In Bandung District, a Save the Children project is introducing Waliku in 15 schools as part of COVID-19 recovery efforts.

west SUMBA, INDONESIA
The District of Sumba Barat, in East Nusa Tengara Timur Province of Eastern Indonesia, is implementing Waliku in since 2018. In the 2020-21 Academic Year, Waliku will be implemented across 34 schools in three sub-districts, reaching close to 10,000 children.
The District Education Office and its staff, the schools of Sumba Barat and its Principals, IT Operators, Teachers, Parents and Students themselves are part of Waliku's impact. They are raising their knowledge and attitudes about absenteeism and supporting children's education and well-being. |
