At Waliku, we believe that data can change lives. By using data-driven solutions and better data management practices, we strive to improve children’s education and well-being. Our goal is to help projects digitize, analyze, and visualize their data to drive meaningful change.
How we began…
Our first pilot project took place in Sumba Barat, located in the Nusa Tengara Timur Province of Eastern Indonesia, during the 2018-19 academic year. Partnering with five schools, we implemented Waliku’s tools to enroll students, track attendance, and follow up on absences. The results were promising:

Our first pilot project took place in Sumba Barat, located in the Nusa Tengara Timur Province of Eastern Indonesia, during the 2018-19 academic year. Partnering with five schools, we implemented Waliku’s tools to enroll students, track attendance, and follow up on absences. The results were promising:
- 1210 students were enrolled across all five schools, with daily attendance tracking for 57% of school days.
- Average absence rates were 11%, with over a third of students identified as chronically absent and 8% severely absent.
- There was a significant increase in understanding the barriers to education in Sumba Barat.
- Waliku improved communication and coordination among school stakeholders.
Expanding our reach…
Since our initial project, Waliku have grown from a single-country initiative to a global service provider. We have partnered with multiple Save the Children offices and numerous projects across various countries, including Colombia, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Laos, Nigeria, Malawi, Mozambique, Philippines, Uganda, and Yemen. Our technology has facilitated the transition from paper-based attendance and learning data to a centralized digital system through our in-house app and third party tools.
