Save the Children Philippines is implementing Catch-up Clubs (CuC) across seven municipalities of South Cotabato, Mindanao. The CuC intervention cycle is a 13-week remedial program, comprising three or more rounds of sessions for promoting literacy of children in grades 3-6 or ages 8-12 years. Children learn to read in groups that correspond to their reading level. At the end of two-three weeks their reading is assessed, and they are reassigned clubs based on their current reading level. In this way, learners progress from one level to the next till they achieve reading with comprehension.
CuCs need a strong data management system that enrolls and longitudinally tracks learners, records their reading assessments and provides dashboard and analytics on key output and outcome metrics. SC Philippines have engaged the Waliku Team, who have developed specific tools that support with CuC data management workflows.
